“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”  -Lao Tzu

I love Mexico and everything Mexican, especially their margaritas and guacamole.  However, this trip to Mexico was a means to an end – get to Belize without spending an arm and a leg on airfare.  However, we decided we had to stay at least a few days, so we made a pit stop in Tulum.

We stayed at a crappy little hostel in the center of town in which we woke every morning to the pound of construction outside our door.  But, the price was right.  This meant we had a very long walk to the beach (think 2-3 miles) but we had a nice stroll, crashed on the sand at a resort and drank a cheap beer before heading back to our palacial room in the center of town.

Then we jumped on the next bus to the border.
